If you wonder if Sweds ever see the sun and know what Summer time is. These 3 pictures can only speak for themselves. These pictures were taken by myself last summer, I spent such a beautiful time on these rocs. What a beautiful and peaceful landscape, isn´t it ?
Yes, Sweds are also familiar with Summer and I must say they really do enjoy it to the fullest. Having a long and cold winter, when the sun is coming back, they don´t take it for granted and make sure that everyday is a day to celebrate it.
The summer in the Archipelagos of Stockholm is wordless, it is breathtaken by all the beauty and the nature. Some Archipelagos are isolated and uninhabited , while others have restaurants and hotels. Everyone finds a little “smultronställe” which means in swedish, an underrated gem of a place, often with personal or sentimental value.
I do remember my reaction when I moved here in Stockholm few years ago, I was watching all Sweds, and when I´m saying ALL, I mean it, their faces up in the sky trying to feel the sun as much as possible ( even for few seconds while waiting on the street for the red light to go green… ). I have to confess that I did laugh a lot looking at them. But looking back, I was the one spoiled and not so grateful. Being born in a place where the sun doesn´t disappear for many months to come back all of sudden. In Paris, we do have a Winter season but the sun can always shine now and then and it is absolutely not dark at 3pm. So… guess who is having her face up in the sky now 🙂
